I've finally got my arse back on the Fightstar forums, and found a load of interviews, videos, etc.

Charlie singing Unfamiliar Ceilings with Kerrang!'s Katie P
Charlie in the studio with the mega-project he recorded a song for, This Is Menace
Fightstar interview with LiveTheScene.co.uk
Fightstar interview with Fat Wrok

Fightstar also did an interview on Rock Radio the other day, which you can download here.

In the Fat Wrok interview, Charlie reveals that the new album will probably be out in March and they'll be planning a big tour around it, exciting stuff! He also says that there is a song on the album called Chemical Blood.

Also, Omar's off at the moment with a broken hand, which sucks - Fightstar recruited a session drummer, Jason Bowld, for their recent tour. Let's hope Ohms is on the mend!

6th November 2008
Fightstar are doing a couple of instore acoustic performances and signings... unfortunately I only just found out about them and one of them was at HMV in Birmingham on Tuesday. Sorry!

The other is tomorrow night at Banquet Records in Kingston, London from 6pm. Good stuff!

5th November 2008
Fightstar's brand new single The English Way is out now! I'm surprised it's so pop, I can't wait to hear the new album as it's supposed to be heavy. The CD includes a brand new song called Colours Bleed (which is brilliant!), while the vinyl features another new song called Drown (which I haven't heard yet). Plus there's a digital bundle for you to download from the usual MP3 sources such as 7digital and play.com digital, which includes an acoustic version of The English Way and an amazing cover of Imogen Heap's Hide And Seek.

The band are also out on tour at the moment, mostly supporting Feeder, which is awesome! Here are the dates of the Feeder tour (including the ones before now, just for the hell of it):

October 20th - Victoria Hall, Stoke-on-Trent
October 21st - Manchester Apollo
October 23rd - Newcastle Academy
October 24th - Barrowlands, Glasgow
October 26th - Engine Shed, Lincoln
October 27th - Rock City, Nottingham
October 29th - Liverpool University
October 30th - Sheffield Academy
November 1st - Loughborough University
November 2nd - Newport Centre
November 4th - Birmingham Academy
November 5th - Llandudno Arena
November 17th - London Brixton
November 18th - London Astoria

And here are their headline dates:
October 28th - Proud Galleries, London (single launch party)
November 10th - 53 Degrees, Preston
November 11th - Cockpit, Leeds
November 13th - Waterfront, Norwich
November 14th - MySpace Show, school venue

Also, I'm rubbish at updating. :-D On June 16th, Fightstar released a b-sides album called Alternate Endings. It features one brand new song called Where's The Money Lebowski, which is pretty amazing!

1. Floods (acoustic) (Colin Murray Radio 1 Session)
2. Where’s The Money Lebowski
3. Waitin' For A Superman - live version (Colin Murray Radio 1 Session)
4. Amethyst
5. 99 (acoustic) (Colin Murray Radio 1 Session)
6. In Between Days
7. Shinji Ikari
8. Dark Star
9. Gracious
10. Fight For Us
11. Hold Out Your Arms
12. Nerv/Seele
13. Zihuatanejo
14. Breaking The Law
15. Minerva (acoustic)
Enhanced section with a video where Fightstar answer fans' questions, and the ’I Am the Message’ video There was also a free enhanced CD when you pre-ordered from RecordStore.co.uk, which includes Download Festival footage, the making of the Floods video, and their performance of Waitin’ for A Superman at the BBC Maida Vale Studios. Fightstar were also featured on a CD of Iron Maiden covers free with Kerrang! magazine some time during the summer - they covered Fear Of The Dark, and although all my Maiden fan friends are cringing about it, I actually think they did a really good job!

They also released I Am The Message over the summer, and did a tour in May. I Am The Message was released in June as a limited double a-side vinyl with their cover of Waitin' On A Superman.

Hmm, so apparently I haven't updated for months. Whoops. I didn't even update about the limited Deathcar single, the first ever vinyldisk! They released it on December 3rd and it's an interesting concept because it's the first EVER format that has a CD on one side and a vinyl on the other... very strange, but it works! It was a pretty cool release, only 4000 were made and every single one was signed. So if you get a chance, try and pick one up somewhere! It also features two new songs, an Al solo song called Shinji Ikari and the brutal Nerv/Seele, which is an absolutely amazing song.

The video for Deathcar is hilarious. It obviously cost about £5 to make, it's quite possibly the worst music video ever, but it's actually fantastic. See for yourself.

The guys have just finished the Kerrang! tour with Coheed & Cambria, Madina Lake and Circa Survive. Next on the agenda is their new single, Floods. It will feature two brand new songs, Floatation Therapy on the CD version and Zihuantanejo on the vinyl. Pre-order it here, and watch the epic Floods video here.

On the same day of its release, they will be playing a charity gig in London, which sold out very, very quickly, but there will be extra tickets to win.

It takes place at Madame JoJo's in Soho, London, on March 3rd, and has been organised by Oxjam (Oxfam) and Lowlife. There will also be an aftershow party which tickets were also available for, but understandably went far quicker even than the gig tickets.

Prior to the gig, there will be a signing (also sponsored by Lowlife) at Fopp in Covent Gardens at 6pm. It's about a 10 minute walk from the venue, so even if you're going to the gig, you can still go to the signing as well!

Fightstar are also rumoured to be playing Download, confirmation of that should be coming soon!

27th September 2007
Wow, okay. I haven't updated this in a while! Which I don't actually understand because I'm sure I updated with October tour dates...

The most important news is that the second album, One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours, is out this week! It has 12 amazing tracks and a bonus DVD, so make sure you head out and buy it!! It's a fantastic album, I much prefer it to their first.

The first single from the album, We Apologise For Nothing, was out last week. You can watch the video for it here. It was number one in the independent label chart, but only number 63 in the actual chart. Ah well.

Here's the list of tour dates, I'm not sure which are sold out, but I'm pretty sure most aren't, so it shouldn't be too late to get tickets!

30th Sept: Carling Academy 2, NEWCASTLE
1st Oct: Liquid Rooms, EDINBURGH
2nd Oct: Moshulu, ABERDEEN
3rd Oct: Fat Sams, DUNDEE

12TH Oct: Wedgewood Rooms, PORTSMOUTH
13TH Oct: Concorde 2, BRIGHTON 15TH Oct: Carling Academy, OXFORD
16th Oct: Koko, LONDON
17th Oct: The Cockpit, LEEDS

I shall be going to the Brighton date! The band are also in the October issue of Rock Sound, I'm not entirely sure what's in there though.

25th June 2007
This week in Kerrang!, there is a free CD on which Fightstar cover Judas Priest's 'Breaking The Law'. Thanks to Chris for letting me know about that, I had no idea!

21st June 2007
Well, they announced this tour a couple of weeks ago, and I got really annoyed not being able to update the site with it! All the dates are in August.

Saturday 11th - Sugarmill, Stoke-on-Trent
Sunday 12th - Barfly, York
Monday 13th - ABC, Glasgow
Wednesday 15th - Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Thursday 16th - Scala, London

So not a huge tour, but a nice, gradual comeback! Oh, and of course, their new official site has been opened, but so far, there's not much on it at all: Fightstar99.com

3rd May 2007
You can view the new Fightstar video for 99 (You And I) here. :-)

I'm still not entirely sure what I think of the song itself, I prefer a lot of the songs on the Grand Unification album.

17th April 2007
'Grand Unification', the album, is out in America today!

The band have also organised a tour across the pond with Emanuel, Madina Lake and Firescape. The dates are as follows:

May 14 - Englewood, CO @ Gothic Theatre
May 15 - Salt Lake City, UT @ Avalon

May 28 - Orlando, FL @ The Social
May 29 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Ray's Downtown Blues
June 16 - Dayton, OH @ The Foundry

13th April 2007
I meant to update the other day, but Fightstar's new single, 99, was premiered on Kerrang! radio a few nights ago. I've only heard it in the form of a low-quality recording, so I don't have a full idea of how good it is yet, but it certainly has potential.

5th March 2007
WOW! An update!!

Hello!! Well it's finally here! We have just got back from signing a new record deal after a very long night!! We are really happy to have just signed to a brand new record label called 'Institute Records' which is a imprint of Gut Records. We are so looking forward to showing you guys the new songs, we feel as a band that this is by far the best material we have come up with yet!! We are going to be recording the album in L.A with Producer Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Satchel, Deftones, Sugarcult). We are heading over there in March to start work on it and will be returning in mid April in time for Give It A Name festival. As far as release dates go, all i can say for the moment, is that we will be releasing a new album track up for download around the time of GIAN and the new album should be out in shops around July/August time. I know some of you guys have been asking about upcoming tour dates. I can tell you that we will be doing some small headline shows around GIAN and then we will be doing a full blown tour around the time of the album release. For all the American fans on here, we will be coming over to your side of the pond between now and the summer time to tour 'Grand Unification!' We want to thank you guys once again for giving the band so much support over the last three years, it has been very much appreciated by all of us!! We feel like we are heading into a brand new era with this band and can't wait to share it with you guys. We will see you very soon! FSxx

The band have also been confirmed to play Give It A Name on the following dates:
London Earls Court - 27th April
Birmingham NIA - 28th April
Glasgow SECC - 29th April

14th February 2007
Dear Fightstar,

Your site is still down. There has been no news for several months. Hurry the fuck up and let us know what's going on!

You'd better be cooking up some damn good tunes.

16th November 2006
Dan and Al have opened their own production line of t shirts which you can view here! Chuck vs. The Earth = genius hahah.

4th November 2006
Fightstar are doing a live session on the Radio 1 rock show with Daniel P. Carter, so make sure you tune in on Monday from midnight till 2am. I'm not sure exactly what time Fightstar are going to be on.

1st November 2006
Oh, finally eh!

Yes, okay, so I could have at least posted a bit about the tour they've just done throughout October...

Anyway, they're doing a show at the Camden Underworld on November 13th. You can find all the information here. The gig is to celebrate the release of Kerrang!'s new CD titled 'New Breed'. Paint Your Target features on CD1 along with Panic! At The Disco, Bullet For My Valentine, Brigade, The Automatic and loads of others. The full tracklistings are on the MySpace page.

31st August 2006
It's all a bit quiet on the Fightstar front at the moment. They played Reading/Leeds festival last weekend which seemed to go down pretty well - a bit of a change from last year.

They're also in Kerrang! this week - just a short piece about writing the next album in Al's barn lol. Charlie says they've written four tracks for the album and that they're changing their musical direction a bit. Their aim for the album is to sound a much more individual band that can't be pigeonholed easily.

15th August 2006
Happy birthday, Omar! :-o

9th August 2006
I just thought I should update to say I'm not neglecting this... there's just seriously no news at the moment.

20th July 2006
Well, sorry about that. There hasn't been any news, really. BUT NOW THERE IS. Let's rejoice!

First of all, Fightstar have a gig coming up in London with other top bands such as Arch Enemy, The Automatic, Bring Me The Horizon and SikTh. It's the Day Of Rock gig, and it'll be at Virgin Megastores on Oxford Street in London on August 10th, starting at 1pm. More info can be found here.

Also, some of you may have heard Funeral For A Friend's new Live at Hammersmith album, and of those who have, you may have noticed that you can hear Charlie's voice on the recording of All The Rage. I thought that deserved a mention for anyone who's interested in that. :-)

And... that's all for now.

1st July 2006

The Kerrang Awards take place on August 24th in London and you can nominate in each category. You can vote online HERE or by text.

To vote by text, send the K code printed beside each category along with your nomination to 88833. So for example, to vote for Fightstar in the Best Album category, text 'K4 Grand Unification' to 88833. The categories you need to know for Fightstar specifically are:

K3 Best Single - vote GRAND UNIFICATION PT I
K4 Best Album - vote GRAND UNIFICATION
K5 Best Live Band - vote FIGHTSTAR
K6 Best British Band - vote FIGHTSTAR

You can also vote by post by picking up Kerrang! magazine and filling out the form.

16th June 2006
Again, much apologies for the lack of updates.

Hazy Eyes only got to no.47 apparently, which is a bit shit. If I'm being honest, I don't think it was the best choice of single to release - they'd have been better with Build An Army or Here Again, I think. But ah wellllll.

I'll try to update later with more news, because I'm sure there is some.

5th June 2006
HAZY EYES IS OUT NOW! There's a cover of Funeral For A Friend's She Drove Me To Daytime TV, lots of exclusive footage, and a brand new track called Fight For Us, which many bands have branded their favourite Fightstar track so far. BUY IIIIT.

18th May 2006

Fightstar have covered Deftones' My Own Summer (Shove It) for another Kerrang! CD, which will be given away with the 31st May issue of the magazine to celebrate its 25th birthday.

They have also got some signings lined up for the Hazy Eyes single:
Monday 5th June - London Virgin Megastore - Instore 6 p.m
Tuesday 6th June - Birmingham HMV - Instore 5 p.m

6th May 2006
The single tracklistings are as follows:-

Hazy Eyes
She Drove Me To Daytime Television

Hazy Eyes
Fight For Us
Palahniuk's Laughter
Enhanced section with Hazy Eyes video

7" vinyl
Hazy Eyes
Sleep Well Tonight (live acoustic version)

There will also be various versions of Hazy Eyes available to download, including a live acoustic, early acoustic demo, and a U-Myx version (which basically runs on a program called U-Myx, where the track is split into all the instrumental parts, and you can take bits out etc to essentially make your own version of the song), as well as the album and EP versions of the song.

5th May 2006
Hazy Eyes is no.156 on Kerrang! TV, so get voting for it. Also, the Funeral For A Friend cover appearing on the single is confirmed, after over 2000 votes, as She Drove Me To Daytime TV, which apparently won by six votes.

1st May 2006
Charlie's provided a load of information about the Hazy Eyes single, revealing a list of the b sides that will appear on it:

Fight For Us (brand new track)
Open Your Eyes instrumental (no drums, just strings)
Hazy Eyes acoustic (recorded in Al's bedroom in 2003)
Funeral For A Friend cover (to be revealed soon)
Leper Messiah

The DVD will contain loads of behind the scenes footage, which will probably be entertaining as usual, and the video has just been added to the music channels, so watch out for that!

29th April 2006
You can see the cover for Hazy Eyes (again by Dan Conway) at this link. It's quite nice, not really what I expected though.

18th April 2006
Fightstar are going back into the studio to record two covers, one for Kerrang! magazine (song is yet to be revealed), and also a Funeral For A Friend cover, which is being produced by Carl from Laruso. Charlie also said that Hazy Eyes is supposed to be out at the end of May, although their press officer has June 5th in her email signature (although obviously it could have changed anyway), so we'll get a confirmed date soon. 13th April 2006
Fightstar are back from their tour in Australia, and Charlie's announced that they're taking some well-earned time off before the Funeral For A Friend tour. The video for Hazy Eyes should be out in the next couple of weeks, and the band are planning another UK tour for autumn. Exciting stuff, let's hope the video doesn't get banned!

1st April 2006
Click here to listen to a clip of Fightstar's cover of Metallica's Leper Messiah, which will feature on the tribute CD that comes free in next week's Kerrang! magazine.

30th March 2006
Vote for which Funeral For A Friend song you think Fightstar should cover by clicking here - I want Juneau, but that's not an option. :-(

29th March 2006
I interviewed Omar yesterday for my music magazine, and you can listen to our entire conversation here, or here!! Some interesting info on there heh.

There is also an article/interview with Al here.

23rd March 2006
Fightstar have been confirmed for Download Festival - they'll be playing in the tent on Sunday 11th June.

23rd March 2006
Hazy Eyes has been announced as Fightstar's next single, and it's currently due to be released on June 5th.

Fightstar are in the current issue of Kerrang!, I think there's a big poster of them and that's it. They're also featured in the next couple of weeks, because Kerrang! are doing a free CD of Metallica covers, and Fightstar are covering Leper Messiah for that. Sounds quite interesting!

Also, there's an article here, which is a sort of interview with Omar.
